The Saguaro Amateur is a 54-hole, no cut, men’s amateur golf tournament being played at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, on the southern edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Saguaro Amateur is considered as an established national amateur golf championship.
FIELD: To be eligible you must not be an NCAA prospect still in high school as of December 28, 2017. You must have a handicap index of 3.0 or lower. See exempt criteria for more detailed information.

SAGUARO AMATEUR EXEMPT AND ENTRY CRITERIA: 2018 Saguaro Amateur Entry Form
A player is exempt if he fits into ONE of the following categories AND submits his completed entry by NOVEMBER 1, 2017. All players must have completed high school by January 1, 2018, and must have a handicap of 3.0 or lower.
1. Top 250 in final 2016-17 Men’s Golfweek Collegiate Players Rankings (Division I)
2. Top 250 in closest ranking to November 1, 2017, in the 2017-18 Men’s Golfweek Collegiate Rankings or Golfstat Rankings (Division I).
3. Top 1000 players in either World Amateur Golf Rankings or the Scratch Players Amateur Rankings
4. Top 10 in the points standing of the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series at the conclusion of the Agave Amateur.
5. Top 10 players who are not already exempt on the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series points list at the conclusion of the 2017 Gobbler Amateur (also must finish in the top 25 of the event)
6. All members-in-good-standing of men’s college golf teams in the Pac-12, Mountain West, and Big 12 Conferences in 2017-18
7. All 2017 champions of major men’s state amateur and mid-amateur championships
8. All members-in-good-standing of men’s college teams in Colorado and Wyoming (all levels) in 2017-18
9. All participants in the men’s 2017 US Mid-Amateur and US Amateur Championships
10. Individual tournament champion of the 2017 University of Wyoming Southern Dunes Collegiate Invitational
11. Low 50 players and ties from the 2017 Saguaro Amateur
12. Designated sponsor exemptions (see separate sponsor sheet)
PRACTICE ROUND: Monday, January 1. You may call DEVIN LOWE at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes at 520-426-6830 or dlowe@troon.com to schedule your practice round time. The deadline for guaranteed tee times is December 22, 2017. All practice round tee times are the responsibility of the player. Any non-participant patrons who wish to play Southern Dunes during the practice round may only make reservations after December 26th on a space-available basis. The rate will be $79 per player.
ADDITIONAL ROUNDS: Participants and their caddies, families, or guests may play additional rounds of golf before or after the event at a rate of $79 and these rounds must be booked between now and the tournament. Please contact Devin Lowe at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes to make arrangements.
REGISTRATION: There is no registration for this event. All players are responsible for being at their starting holes at the scheduled time.
ENTRY FEE: $450 includes the three tournament rounds and a practice round on Monday, January 1. It includes the use of all practice facilities before and after the rounds on all four tournament days. It also includes a premier tournament gift and a 20% discount on all non-alcoholic food and beverage for you and your guests. 2018 Saguaro Amateur Entry Form
DISCOUNTS: All players and their guests will receive a 20% discount off of all food, beverage (non-alcoholic), and golf shop merchandise at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes over the course of the tournament days. The golf course will provide a discount card for you upon arrival.
CADDIES and CARTS: Caddie carts will be available at a cost of $35 per bag. Carts will be consolidated to two bags per cart. Participants are not allowed to ride in golf carts at any time. It is a 2-shot penalty for the first offense and disqualification for the second. Caddies should plan on reserving their carts in advance with Devin Lowe.
SPECTATOR CARTS: Spectator carts are available on a space-available basis for $50 per round, per cart. Spectator carts are required to stay on all cart paths at all times. Reservations may only be made the days of the Saguaro Amateur.

Tuesday, January 2: First tournament round; starting times from 9:00-11:10 a.m. off of 1 and 10 tees
Wednesday, January 3: Second tournament round; starting times from 9:00-11:10 a.m. off of 1 and 10 tees
Thursday, January 4: Final tournament round (re-group); starting times from 9:00-11:10 a.m. off of 1 and 10 tees

CONDUCT and ATTIRE: Golf spike policy of Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is in effect at the time of the championship. Proper golf attire is required. Golf shirt must have a collar and either pants or golf shorts are required. All headwear must be worn forward. Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct–including but not limited to: cursing, throwing clubs, damage to the golf course, or other are prohibited. Disqualification with no refund is possible at the sole discretion of the tournament committee.
PACE of PLAY: We ask that the first two players who hole out proceed immediately to the next tee and hit when ready. Walk ahead and save time when possible. In the practice round, no more than one ball should be played to the green. Play as fast as possible. If you are holding up play during the practice round, you may be asked to leave by the Southern Dunes and/or Saguaro Amateur staff.
WITHDRAWALS and REFUNDS: All paid entries are subject to a $125 handling fee at all times. Refunds minus $125 are available up until December 19, 2017, when there are no refunds for withdrawal or no show for any reason.
WAITING LIST: A waiting list will be formed after the exempt deadline of November 1st. Credit cards and checks WILL NOT be cashed until a player is confirmed entry off of the waiting list. Sponsor exemptions are NOT subject to the waiting list and can be used up until December 19, 2017, the entry deadline.
